About Belvoir

Accessibility

Wheelchairs
Belvoir St Theatre can accommodate patrons in wheelchairs and their guests. There is lift access to both the foyer and theatre. We also have disabled toilets, and there is one disabled parking spot directly outside the theatre. Please book ahead and let Box Office know of any special needs so we can ensure that you are looked after. Special note: There is now a lift at the Devonshire St exit of Central Station, from the concourse to the street.

Audio description for our guests with vision impairment
For the first time in 2012, we offered Vision Australia's live audio description service for one of our performances, Buried City, on 21 January. The performers' actions, expressions and gestures were narrated by professional describers via a small earpiece which was provided to guests pre-show. The service is designed to provide real-time imagery during gaps in the dialogue on stage. Our next audio described performance will be Private Lives on Saturday, 27 October at 2pm.

Hearing assistance
There is a Hearing Loop in both theatres which can be accessed via the t-switch on hearing aides. Please note we are only able to provide a limited number of people with this service so please book early and let our box office know of your requirements as it is currently limited to a specific area of the theatre.
In the Upstairs Theatre the hearing loop works only in the middle bank of seating, rows E-J.

Captioned performances
Belvoir is commited to providing captioned performances where live text captions are displayed on screens on either side of the stage. These captions will detail actors' dialogue, adlibs, asides, song lyrics, musical descriptions and other sound effects. A number of seats nearest the captioning displays have been held for our guests who are interested in using this service. Please note we are only able to provide a limited number of people with this service so please book early and let our box office know of your requirements.

We'll also be providing mobile phone captioning, a service we provided for Babyteeth and will continue to provide with the matinee performance of Death of a Salesman on 14 July. You can see how the service works here.

2012 performances
Death of a Salesman 2pm Saturday 14 July
Private Lives 2pm Saturday 20 October
